Senior General Accountant

Preparing Journal entries and maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.

Preparing bank and petty cash reconciliation

Dealing with the banks

Preparing expenses reimbursements

Preparing financial analysis and Tax reports.

Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.

Assisting with annual audit preparations.

Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.

Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals.

Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and required knowledge of Google Sheets, Docs, Microsoft Office, and other applications related to finance and accounting.

English proficiency.

3+ years of accounting experience.

Working knowledge of tax laws, tax reports, and IFRS.

Strong communication skills

Experience working with intercompany transactions and reconciliation in preparation for audit for at least 1 year

Thorough understanding of financial application security ensuring that all financial data is secure and complies with confidentiality policies.

Involvement in business registration with government agencies.

Senior Accountant

Position Summary

The senior accountant is a vital role in the plant finance, is mainly responsible for taxation, GL, AP, and heavily participates in monthly/quarterly internal controls and SOX reporting. The position works closely with other finance sub-functions as well as other departments and vendors to ensure smooth and coordinated daily business operations and proper accounting treatments.

Responsibility Of All Tax Activities

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports, handle tax audits under the supervision of the accounting manager.

Ensure accurate and timely monthly VAT returns, handle reconciliations with tax consultants as well as prepare for tax audits.

Follow-up latest updates of tax laws and regulations and ensure effective implementation to save the company from any risks.

Develop all needed reports to be submitted to the direct manager.

Ensuring of prepare, complete all Corporate, VAT, Salary, WHT tax requirements

Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns.

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports. - Sharing with an external office

Visit the tax authorities when needed.

Month-end Closing Activities

Participate in Month-end closing bookings, ensure compliance with deadlines and accuracy of financial data.

Monitor and supervise month-end activities of AP accountant.

Auditing And Internal Controls

Play a vital role during internal and external audits as well as tax audits including preparations of internal/external audit requirements and reconciliations for related areas.

Ensure accuracy of annual statutory reporting as per EAS, quarterly and annual reporting as per US-GAAP under accounting manager supervision.

Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls requirements, including monthly/quarterly/annual assessments and submissions regarding her/his related areas.

Daily Finance Activities

Participate in the daily operations of the accounting department.

Monitoring and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. Ensure compliance with the company’s standards.

Manages a team of 1-2 accountants responsible for AP as well as general ledger.

Participate in cash flow preparation and ensure proper working capital management.

Supervising and reviewing of supplier invoices and processing of payment requests; monitoring payment processing system to ensure conformity to agreed terms of purchase and delivered quantities;

Leadership And Team Management

Lead a team of 1-2 Accountants.

Provide ongoing performance feedback as well as semiannual and annual appraisals.

Responsible for subordinates development and succession plans.

Job Requirements

Bachelor degree of Accounting/finance.

4-6 years of experience in related field.

Follow-up latest updates of tax laws and regulations and ensure effective implementation to save the company from any risks.

Good background in all Tax inspection requirements.

Strong command over Microsoft Office and ERP system (SAP preferable).

A manufacturing industry background is preferred.

Proven leadership skills.

Fluency in English.

Job Description

A Medium Size Construction & Trading company is looking to hire a “Accounting Manager” for our business inside Egypt. 

As Accounting Manager, you will supervise, track and evaluate the day-to-day activities. Accounting Manager responsibilities include establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information.

He will have several direct reports and work to allocate tasks evenly across the team. Responsible for driving team performance and getting the most out of individual contributors.

Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes

Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit

Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements

Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness

Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested

Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions

Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships

Recruits and hires the accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.

Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end

Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return.

Audits accounts to ensure compliance with ISO regulations and internal policies guidance.

Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Technical Competencies:

10 - 14 years of experience in Accounting/Finance in general.

2 - 4 years of experience in a similar position as “Accounting Manager”

Certified CMA or CPA.

Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations

Construction Experience is a MUST.

General Qualifications:
